If the Republican Party wishes to survive as a political entity, is it time for its reasonable members to divorce themselves from the "crazies" who led them into the dumpster in 2012?

Believe it or not, I believe in the two-party system. I was raised as a Republican and switched my views sometime after 1964 ... Since that time, the "Grand Old Party" of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Goldwater, Nixon, and Reagan has moved even further into crazy-town by endorsing stuff that appeals ONLY to neo-Birchite fringe elements who hate ALL environmental regulations, gun-laws, civil-rights laws, public-school teachers, science programs, taxes, family-planning, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and ANY federal programs that benefit women, seniors, minorities, and the poor. And they wonder why they lost in 2012? To save the G.O.P. from potential extinction, is it time for rational Republicans to ditch the unreconstructed whack-jobs in their ranks (i.e. Michelle Bachman or Georgia Congressman Paul Braun who said that evolution & the "big bang" theory are "lies from the pit of he11") and educate themselves about what REALLY happened to

of course that is Obamas goal to destroy America, how can he get us to beg him to move to Socialism if we are not broke and miserable.

BeRight - When you say, "Soon or later, we will run out of money for free stuff", I don't hear enough sources saying, "That just might be Obama's GOAL".

That WOULD bring about a total "Transformation" of America.

The point that was made in the last election was a large percentage of Democrat voters are not interested in policy positions, debate tactics, issues etc. They don’t care about TV ads, print ads or Talk Radio (that is why Air America failed). Give them a little free stuff and move out of the way. Hence the term “Low Information Voters”. The only time they get engaged in the election is when they wake up and find out the booths are open for early balloting and look for the Democrat on the ballot. One has to be impressed that the Democrats keep getting almost 100% of the black vote without doing anything for blacks in return. Next up on the constituency train will be the undocumented Democrats who are in line to get amnesty. It is just facts and the Republicans need to figure out a way around this. Soon or later, we will run out of money for free stuff.

Might one say that Marco Rubio's response to the SOTU speech was a bit "watered down"? No one can make Republicans look like fools better than the Republicans themselves!

@Munster - "A lie can travel halfway 'round the world before the truth can put on its shoes" ` Mark Twain ... Of course some folks are more susceptible to lies than others. Is it DNA? Is it the drinking water in Dayton?

Freddie, even attempting a discussion with you is an exercise in futility!

Posted 127 days ago.

Speaking of Grumpy people, did anyone catch the sour look on Boehner's face through most of the President's SOTU speech? And what was that brown stuff in the glass that he took a drink from during the speech?

Forgive poor Sticky. He's still in denial about Romney losing the election & all he can do here is whine, whine, whine! Let's have a pity party for Sticky who imagines that every time someone disagrees with his dogmatic views, he is being "insulted". If one actually READS what I've said here, I think I said that BOTH parties have flaws. Yes, I advised responsible Republicans to divest themselves of their extremist elements & THAT is most likely what set the Stick off on his latest rant against yours truly! Yawn! If Twiggy wants to be "insulted", I can accomodate him. @Stick - You're a crashing bore!

Oh, kinda like Ohio Democrats? When they had the majority in the Ohio Legislature, they demanded that voting districts be decided by the majority party, but as soon as they lost their majority, they then demanded we pass a Constitutional Amendment to outlaw it?

Why didn't you just title this topic "Freddie Insults Anyone Who Disagrees With Him? It would at least be "truth in advertising."

Unfortunately, what some can't obtain by honest means, they try to obtain by cheating ... Though some Republicans are trying hard to cheat now via blatant Gerrymandering, voter-suppression, and Congressional rule-bending, such activities are bi-partisan in nature.

actually, many of the "founders" didn't really care if the "majority" ruled or not. They only allowed free, white, property-owning males to vote. The Constitution does contain some provisions about the "majority" in Congress deciding matters, but that was tossed out a few years ago when the Senate enlarged the "filibuster" rule that permits the minority to hold up legislation and appointments indefinitely ... Since Harry Reid is dragging his feet on filibuster reform, it seems that some Democrats fear that they might not be able to pull the same undemocratic stunt if they are ever in the minority ... "Let whomsoever is without sin ...!"

@LOvey - Whatever! ... I should amend what I said earlier to "when someone like the Stiff (whom some might label as a "Republican" but probably isn't) calls those he disagrees with 'Marxists', 'communists', 'fascists', 'socialists', or 'Trotskyites' (without having the slightest notion of what those terms mean) ..." Or when those claiming to be "Republicans" start ranting about "abolishing government or Social Security, or Medicare ... When folks like that purport to speak for ALL Republicans, it might be time for responsible members of the party - i.e. local G.O.P. Chairperson Lesie Haas - to say to these extremists "I want a divorce"!

should read.. does "NOT" constitute a firing in the second sentence. my mistake.

luvthesouth

good afternoon fred. according to CBS news, you may be mistaken on the firing of Palin. the ending and subsequent non-renewal of a contract does constitute a firing in my opinion. the dismissal in the midst of a contract is most definately a firing. i will even say the re-assignment, to honor a contract, aspect of an employee as a delayed firing. the completion of a term agreement...i don't think so. sorry for the interruption, please carry on.

Posted 128 days ago.

I note that Rove is getting nervous and even FOX is starting to clean house by firing retrogrades like Palin ...

Posted 128 days ago.

... For example, when someone like the Stiff calls everyone he disagrees with a "Marxist", when some others are incapable of discussing issues without Drudging up some wigged-out "conspiracy" theories, or when some dingbats simply "pop" in like weasels to utter unintelligible and irrelevant blather, it might be time for reasonable Republicans to clean house and chase some of the bats out of the belfry - or continue to lose elections!
