Ukraine/Crimea What should the Western Powers do?

Some fear that Russia is on its way to reforming the old USSR. Some think it's none of our business here in the US and the EU should handle it. What do you think? What should Pres. Obama and the US Govt. do?

Well, the western powers gave a sort of "red line" when it involves Russia going across and into Ukraine. But I guess they didn't mention anything about taking Ukraine's only submarine from them.

It is only common sense my friend. I never said I was a republizombie like Bob B. says. I just think the Head Man In Charge HMIC has to make some unpopular decisions sometime. I also think Bush Sr knows way more about the Kennedy's than he is letting on.

From what I gather the Ukrainians are glad to be back with Russia. That is what is being reported in some newscasts anyhow. No we should mind our own dang business and stay away but if they beg us or the UN says go with them and get in there tell them to pay US for helping !!

Or be truthful in what we do. Don't say we are in a place because of humanitarian reasons..tell the truth! We are there because of oil, politics or strategic reasons. Wouldn't it be a breath of fresh air to hear our leaders say, "We don't go in the Congo because they have nothing we want from them."

@Fred- I'm just waiting on the Dems to start attacking Obama more on his foriegn relations record. Most Dems that will be running for re-election will probably take easy pot shots at the President and the Ukraine situation is so easy. Mostly because most Americans probably don't have the foggiest notion what's going on besides the evil Russians are wanting it.

@Greek- I'm certain Obama would love to get advice from the man who once called Putin, "very straight forward and trustworthy".

The supreme one should draw another syrian line in the sand. Give Putin some more stuff to laugh at !! Maybe we should get Bush and Cheney's advice on what to do !!!

Personally, if we are determined not to be the "police" of the world...then we should stay out of it.

This is where politics will get interesting. The Far Right will condemn Obama for not doing enough and making the US look weak, yet these same people would be the type that would yell we need to stay out of other nation's affairs.
