Are the Second Amendment "rights" of Americans really being "threatened" - or is this complaint just another gimmick to get the right-wing, reactionary base "fired up" for 2012?

Well Bob, if you're not going to do it, I guess I'll have to ... Some of today's "pretend patriots" might want to look at what is happening in Egypt ... A real "revolution" isn't pretty ... Some Americans, however, are claiming that President Obama and his administration are "tyrants", and (in the words of failed Nevada Senatorial candidate Sharron Angle) "Second Amendment Solutions" might be needed ... Is she right? Or is she just "right-wing"? Inquiring minds want to know!

Reports from Biden’s meetings are that this is all about gun control and has nothing to do about protecting the children. Nothing is being said about mental health. 2nd amendment backers told us that Obama would do this sometime. He also believes that you should never let a tragedy go to waste. The chickens have come home to roost on this one. Obama has no one to fear anymore. He no longer has to compromise. Look at his new cabinet choices. He certainly could use Romney’s binders of women now.

lts - I just read the most succinctly expressed opinion (IMO) for unquestioned support of our 2nd amendment. It was expressed by R. L. Wilson in his book; Ruger & His Guns: A History of The Man, the Company and Their Firearms (Chartwell Books, 1996) pages 307 - 309, under the articles "On the Right to Own Firearms" and "Firearms Legislation".

Although the book is copyrighted 1996, those articles may as well have been written this morning with our present 'political' atmosphere.

owing our soul to the company store to owing it to the goverment store. but i am sure that the production will skyrocket initially since they will have all of the well-rested unemployed government dependents ready to begin their servitude. oh happy days!!!!!

Kunectdots. sweet isn't it. i thought 10 years of protection would be enough...but apparently he may be planning to upset enough folks that he may just need that lifetime extention put into effect. when i read the news on yahoo, it only mentioned he and g.w. being covered under his new decree. boy billy jeff, h.w.b. and jimmy "peanut" carter must be a little peeved at the news....oh wait, bill is probably covered under hillary's umbrella of protection. looks like the who's who in society and government are arming themselves. it's aa good thing that the common man will be unarmed soon....easier to control, since they already control the currency, healthcare, commerce, housing, food, medicine, and soon to be energy. how do you think our women will look in the hillary clinton chairman mao suit? just think how great it will be when we'll have to show up at the governent controlled production facilities to get our ebt cards credited! they will have succeeded in taking us from owi

thegreek - You mentioned "the rich and famous can defend themselves with a GUN..". Obama just reinstituted LIFE-LONG PROTECTION from the Secret Service for the president and his family, returning to a status that elapsed in 1997.

What the supporters of the second amendment have feared since Obama took office: Joe Biden said yesterday that the president is considering by-passing congress on gun control and will do it by executive order. “President Barack Obama is "determined to take action" against gun violence and is weighing possible executive orders”.

Welcome to Obamaland...............

So Moderation I am confused. I re read all your past posts which almost all of them start off naming me. Just what is your position on the 2nd ammendment? Do you not think that people do not enjoy semi-automatics as much as you do your muzzleloader. Doesn't make sense to me. One group of lawmakers want simply to expand registration and the other, Feinstein wants and has been working on sweeping changes. Do you think we should all carry a single shot or muzzleloader? When are people gonna realize that the bad guys will get guns no matter if they are illegal, jeesh.

Greek- I had my first hunting experience( squirrel)under the eyes of my father beginning around the age of 5 1/2. He said my eyes generally were closed until the sun was well up. I received my first rifle (.22, bolt action, single shot)at the age of eight. As I aged,I was allowed to venture beyond keeping in eye contact. At age 10, I hunted with a single shot 20 ga. Among a group of men, around the age of 11 1/2 -12, I hunted deer with that 20 ga. I was taught responsibility, and the importance of making the FIRST shot count. I have stocked the pantry with cold packed venison and my own vegetables for years. My choice for hunting deer is an in- line .50 (and some stills occasionally, just to keep that touch). I still enjoy some rabbit hunting with friends, as well as the rabbit meat itself. I own firearms and I shoot them accurately and safely.

I dont see your point moderation. Mine is that the rich and famous can defend themselves with a GUN but you dont have a problem with that but us common people shouldnt be trusted to have a gun !! I dont care about defense spending. That is above me. As long as there are no terrorist in suicide vests here on US soil, I am happy. You ever think us gun owners may have curbed any thoughts of them doing that here???

Munster, in Texas, alot of the schools have teachers that are regular citizens with CCW licenses and they carry in school and GUESS WHAT, it is not a prison either. You dont know who carries or not. Look up Harrold county Texas. They did not go into lock down the week after Sandy Hook either. It just so happens Bush is there so you probably dont care about looking into that. Seems to be an epidemic these days of just hearing what you want to hear and to heck with the TRUTH. You agree that armed bodyguards ought to protect famous people and diplomats but not kids, HMMM.
