Are the Second Amendment "rights" of Americans really being "threatened" - or is this complaint just another gimmick to get the right-wing, reactionary base "fired up" for 2012?

Well Bob, if you're not going to do it, I guess I'll have to ... Some of today's "pretend patriots" might want to look at what is happening in Egypt ... A real "revolution" isn't pretty ... Some Americans, however, are claiming that President Obama and his administration are "tyrants", and (in the words of failed Nevada Senatorial candidate Sharron Angle) "Second Amendment Solutions" might be needed ... Is she right? Or is she just "right-wing"? Inquiring minds want to know!

And again sticky , read it all !Don't be stupid , oh wait you already are ! I think we all know what constitutes a military cartridge !specfically for a military weapon ! Some are designed to do as much damage to a human body as possible !RE: spoon tip , air bubble etc !

I asked because that reply shows how stupid you truly are, ALL of those cartridges are, or have been used by the military. And if, in "full metal jacket" construction, as military ammo is, they tend to go through whatever they strike.

by Scott Clement,Washington Post. 90 percent of Americans want expanded background checks on guns. Why isn’t this a political slam dunk? Nine in 10 Americans support expanding background checks on gun purchases in a recent Washington Post-ABC News poll, an extraordinary level of agreement on a political issue and a finding that’s been duplicated in nearly every major public poll. What is a military style cartridge? What exactly makes a round of ammo "military style?" Is the 30.06 a military style cartridge? A .45 ACP? A 9 mm?

Is it a military style weapon, YES ! Why don't you grasp that ???? Does it use a military style cartridge , YES ! Will a semi -auto version do the same damage to a human body , YES !!! I don't give a rats as$ on your numbers , the truth is almost 80% of all americans want something done ! THATS CALLED A MAJORITY !!!!

A semi-auto, modern sporting rifle, IS NOT a military assault weapon! It's really sad that people like you are unable to grasp that!

And, to set the record straight, I was citing a very conservative number for the official attendance at this year's NRA annual meeting. The 2013 NRA Annual Meeting exceeded attendance numbers of any previous meeting. The official attendance at this year's meeting was 86,228, a new record attendance. This year's meeting had better than 12,000 more credentials issued than the previous record set at last year's meeting in St. Louis.

An interesting aside, Texas law allows concealed carry in venues such as where this year's meeting. It's unknown how many members present held a CCW, or how many were actually armed, but there were no incidents.

Kind of defeats you folks claiming that if people are allowed to carry a firearm for self defense, that there'd be blood in the streets.

See, that's what I've been trying to tell you ! This isn't an attack on your second amendment rights , its just restricting military assault weapons !I know you cant accept that because of all the crappola that you've been fed but in reality that's all it is !

"Trying to save his job?" As long as he's out there in the forefront fighting off the various attacks on the 2nd amendment, there is no way the board would even consider replacing him.

Under Wayne's time as Executive Vice President, the NRA has increased it's membershio to over 5 Million individuals willing to take on "Organizing For America"n the Brady Campaign, and any and every anti-gun group out there. As well as that idiot you liberals crowned President!

Your "fired-up" fellow anti-gun folks had a demonstration across the street from the NRA annual meeting. The huge crowd of around 50 Obamabots showed up! The annual meeting attendance? Around 70,000 patriots.

Bring it on!

Since you are so worried about not hearing comments about the little girl shot in Kentucky by her brother, here's my take. Any parent who allows a 5 year old to have access to a firearm without adult supervision is guilty of child abuse. Plain and simple. I've discussed here before how I feel about proper storage of firearms.

That said, I'd agree with the Kentucky legislator about not blaming the gun. I'd blame the parent. A 5 year old should be allowed to learn about shooting, under supervision. But, any responsible parent would assure that the firearm is stored properly, not leaning against the corner in the kid's room.

I even clear any firearm before leaving the range, with the exception of my carry gun. And all are secured when I return home, or holstered on my person until I go to bed, then my carry gun goes into my bedside safe.
