Are the Second Amendment "rights" of Americans really being "threatened" - or is this complaint just another gimmick to get the right-wing, reactionary base "fired up" for 2012?

Well Bob, if you're not going to do it, I guess I'll have to ... Some of today's "pretend patriots" might want to look at what is happening in Egypt ... A real "revolution" isn't pretty ... Some Americans, however, are claiming that President Obama and his administration are "tyrants", and (in the words of failed Nevada Senatorial candidate Sharron Angle) "Second Amendment Solutions" might be needed ... Is she right? Or is she just "right-wing"? Inquiring minds want to know!

Diplomats and famous people, you say, greek? Yes,diplomats, and I guess some famous people, but who were the last one(s) in that category to be slain with something other that a .308?

Munster, in Texas, alot of the schools have teachers that are regular citizens with CCW licenses and they carry in school and GUESS WHAT, it is not a prison either. You dont know who carries or not. Look up Harrold county Texas. They did not go into lock down the week after Sandy Hook either. It just so happens Bush is there so you probably dont care about looking into that. Seems to be an epidemic these days of just hearing what you want to hear and to heck with the TRUTH. You agree that armed bodyguards ought to protect famous people and diplomats but not kids, HMMM.

Munster, I am sure you are correct about not every teacher wanting that. It wouldn't take them all, just say half of them to make the school a defended zone as compared to a defensless zone like they are now due to law. I am sure the police would rather come see a few dead or wounded victims as compared to 26! If they have to see it at all. And so far, no one can come up with any for it to occur ZERO times.

Great example of unintended consequences. BTW, I think gun ownership is a great thing about the USA.

The FBI said it recorded 2.8 million background checks for gun purchasing during December in the United States, surpassing the mark set in November of 2 million checks. The number was up 49 percent over December 2011, when the FBI performed a then-record 1.9 million checks.

BeRight - But we live in a political atmosphere (Obama's) where it's "We can't wait!" and "It has to be done right now!".

These strike-while-the-iron-is-hot and "Don't let a good crisis go to waste" mentalities ARE WELL USED as his primary mechanisms for propulusion of legislation that HE has longed for.

In that respect, he reminds me of little more than a cheap, hustling used-car salesman (except he's hustling away our rights).

note; No offense to cheap, hustling used-car salesman intended.

The left is all up in arms about what happened in Newtown. 260 School Children Killed in Chicago in 3 Years -- Where Are the Tears for Them? Is it because the children who die on the streets of America’s cities are black and brown? Is it because they are poor? What makes the victims of everyday inner-city gun violence expendable? Could it be that it is only the color of the skin is what ramps up the outrage on the left?

I'm in the correct forum, you're not. And I'm not going to go chasing across the site to find your post.

No wonder I equate moron and free/munster as the same.

And to the intelligent folks here, Happy New Year!

moderation - You said (two days ago) "Uh, didn't Brady take a round?". Yes he did, from a .22 caliber handgun that the coming proposed gun control legisaltion may not necessarily touch anyway!

Since then, the Brady's have tried to make lemonade from the 'lemon' they were dealt (at the expense of the 2nd amendment) through Handgun Control Inc.

I regret what happened to Jim Brady. I regret what happened to the adults and children of Newtown, CT and all the other senseless acts of MADMEN.

BUT, they WERE just that! Acts concocted in the back allies of brains that aren't wired correctly and I see NO NEED for 'kneejerk-type' legislative reactions, involving restrictions upon sanely minded gun owners, as anything remotely positive in the prevention of similar acts.
