CLEAN... ENERGY

Offshore wind farms from New Jersey to Virginia took a big step closer to reality with the completion of a review that showed the renewable energy source would not cause major environmental damage, officials said today. Wind projects off the coasts of Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and New Jersey are being studied. The Mid-Atlantic lease proposal follows the Cape Wind project in Massachusetts that was given the go-ahead in 2010 after 9 years of federal review."No developer should have to wait nine or 10 years," for approval, Salazar said. The response from the developers was "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

The news I hear is that the people of California are asking "what has taken so long "?

Seems the land owners in California want nothing to do with that high speed rail.

How are they going to run an electric train on solar and wind?

Kunectdots

Maybe some landowners would rather have their water tables contaminated by oil spills (sometimes explosive) by railcar derailments, with the accompanying spillages that occur.

the landowners will benefit from the Keystone project

The landowners want nothing to do with the pipeline!!...I didn't make a good point that they would benefit from it...there you go again reading something that isn't there...

Seems the land owners in Nebraska want nothing to do with the pipeline...no amount of money can buy them they say...one man did say if they refine it in Canada he'd allow a pipeline through his land for the 307k they have offered him...so the question is, how long before they use eminent domain to get the pipeline through??...

However, at 70 mph winds and negative wind chills, you can steel keep shoveling coal.

Sorry, the wind generators won't hold up at the speed and have to be locked down.

At very high wind speeds, typically between 45 and 80 mph, most wind turbines cease power generation and shut down. The wind speed at which shut down occurs is called the cut-out speed, or sometimes the furling speed. Having a cut-out speed is a safety feature which protects the wind turbine from damage.

70 mph is well above the the "cut-out speed"

Too bad we cant figure a way to generate power using idiocy !

Posted 122 days ago.

Ohwiseone

Well with gusts over 70 MPH I'd say that the wind generators are doing just fine !

I wonder how those solar panels and other renewable sources are working out during this EPIC JUNO storm?

How many windmills does it take to keep the lights on at LaGuardia?
