Foundation announces 2024 officers

The Marietta Community Foundation has announced the unanimous approval of its 2024 slate of officers for the Board of Directors.

They are: Roland Riggs, returning chair, retired from the city of Marietta; Mike Buell, vice chair, retired from Buell & Sipe Co. LPA; Ryan Robinson, treasurer, HG Energy LLC; Jill Witucky, secretary, Pioneer Group; and at-large members Christy Chavez of Reno Oil & Gas, Ryan Elliott of Northwestern Mutual and Teri Ann Zide of Teri Ann’s.

The terms of former board members Carol Schneeberger, retired chief administrative officer and executive vice president at Peoples Bank, who joined in 2019, and Johnny Wharff, a second-generation radio broadcaster at WMOA-WJAW, who joined the board in 2021, expired on Dec. 31.

“Our board is the driving force behind our success. Carol’s keen intuition and exceptional leadership, combined with Johnny’s distinguished understanding of the community’s pulse, significantly influenced the Foundation’s growth and shaped our strategic decision-making,” Heather Allender, president and CEO of the foundation, said.

Allender was appreciative of their contributions.

“Their absences will be felt deeply,” she said. “Looking ahead, I am enthusiastic about witnessing newer board members take on more substantial roles and extending a warm welcome to new members.”

Riggs, who was the city attorney for the city of Marietta, said he was looking forward to serving with new and returning board members. The foundation will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

“It will be a challenging year, but I hope also a fulfilling one,” Riggs said.

The community is encouraged to nominate potential board members by going to https://www.mcfohio.org/board-and-staff. Residents can also become involved with the foundation by participating in committees and make a meaningful impact without the commitment of joining the board. Information about committee involvement is at https://www.mcfohio.org/committees.
