Marietta Police Reports

October 1

≤ Officers went to Belmont County Jail and served a warrant for probation violation on Shawn L. Whittekind, 46, who was in custody there. Whittekind was transported back to Washington County Jail.

≤ Officers were contacted by Marietta High School Vice Principal Yeater in reference to an assault of a female student that happened in the hallway of the school by another female student. A summons for the charge of assault will be sent to the Washington county Juvenile Court.

≤ Officers responded to 731 Glendale Road in reference to a disturbance. After investigation, it was learned a female inside the apartment was suffering from a drug induced medical emergency. Officers determined the female was unable to care for herself, and she was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital without incident.

October 2

≤ Officers were dispatched to 700 Fourth Street in reference to a criminal damaging report. Upon arrival, officers made contact with two victims who reside in the neighborhood in regards to their vehicle tires being damaged overnight. At this time, this case remains under further investigation.

≤ Officers were dispatched to 15 Acme Street in reference to a previous theft. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the store manager who provided CCTV footage and a written statement. At this time, this case remains under further investigation.

October 3

≤ Officers were contacted by Marietta High School Vice Principal Yeater in reference to a male student threatening another male student. A charge of menacing will be sent to Washington County Juvenile Court on the student.

October 4

≤ Officers responded to HDQ in reference to a stolen handgun from a vehicle parked in the 800 block of Second Street.

≤ Officers responded to Walmart in reference to a vehicle being damaged. Upon arrival, the officers found that the complaint cut another female off from pulling into a parking stall. The other woman then got out and allegedly scratched the complainant’s vehicle.

≤ An officer observed a motorcycle traveling recklessly near the area of Fourth and Scammel Street. Before the officer was able to activate his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, the motorcycle took off at a high rate of speed on Fifth Street toward Washington Street. A short time later, the officer located the motorcycle crashed near the intersection of Fourth and Washington Street and the operator laying on the side of the roadway, injured in the grass nearby. The operator was taken to a hospital as a result, a summons will be requested for the operator for driving under suspension, reckless operation and failure to control.

October 6

≤ An officer was walking through the parking lot of Advanced Auto, 220 Greene Street, when he observed three younger females in a vehicle with smoke coming from the window. After investigation, the owner of the vehicle confessed to possession of open alcohol. All occupants were under the age of 21. A summons was requested for a charge of underage possession of alcohol.

October 7

≤ Officers were investigating an apparent assault that had taken place on Oct. 4 at Marietta High School; the investigation is still ongoing.

October 10

≤ Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Allen Street in reference to a welfare check of a male. Upon arrival, officers located David P. Hamilton, 43, who was found acting very erratic. Officers found Hamilton had an active warrant and arrested Hamilton. Hamilton was found with drug paraphernalia in his left front pocket and was transported to the Washington County Jail.

October 12

≤ Officers responded to 717 Second Street in response to an unknown male attempting to enter the front door. Upon arrival, it was revealed that Zachary T. Vensel, 34, was highly intoxicated and was walking home after an event. Vensel lives in the neighborhood and believed he was home. Vensel was cited for disorderly conduct by intoxication and was released to a responsible party.

October 13

≤ Officers responded to 909 Cisler Lane in reference to a disturbance; one officer initiated an investigation resulting in Gary Lee Patterson Jr., 48, and Tiffany A. Williams, 24, being cited for disorderly conduct by fighting.

October 14

≤ An officer was dispatched to 450 Pike Street in reference to a criminal damaging complaint. Upon arrival, a box truck was located with a busted out driver’s side window with a spark plug located inside. Other items in the vehicle were stolen as well. This case remains under investigation.

≤ An officer was dispatched to 15 Acme Street in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the manager who advised a male subject had got his arrows serviced but walked out of the store and did not pay the $210 bill.
