The following subjects were processed into the Washington County Jail May 31 to June 3:

¯ David Michael Burns, 43, Circleville, contempt of court.

¯ Benjamin Levi Zartman, 30, Marietta, theft and fugitive from justice, both misdemeanors.

¯ Christopher Paul Cook, 32, Marietta, fugitive from justice, a misdemeanor, possession of drugs, tampering with evidence and trafficking in drugs, all felonies.

¯ Jamie Elaine Pinkerton, 43, Marietta, fugitive from justice, a misdemeanor.

¯ Judith Ann Bonnette, 70, Little Hocking, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

¯ Damian Nicholas Tyson, 44, Chillicothe, assault, hit skip, driving under suspension, failure to yield or stop at stop/yield sign and breach of recognizance, all misdemeanors.

¯ Misty Roxxann Mitchell, 33, Flemington, West Va., fugitive from justice, a misdemeanor.

¯ Kristin Nicole Dutcher, 40, Marietta, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

¯ Brian Daniel Bates, 47, Macksburg, aggravated possession of drugs, a felony; and contempt of court, menacing, obstructing official business and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors.

¯ Courtney Nicole Destifanes, 37, Marietta, nonsupport of dependents.

¯ Zachary Warren Lance, 24, Coolville, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

¯ Jerry Lynn Nicholson, 55, possession of drugs, a felony; and illegal use or possession of drugs, a misdemeanor.

¯ Stephen Andrew Cole, 37, Belpre, fugitive from justice.

June 3

¯ Deputy Norris was patrolling the 500 block of High Street, Aurelius Township, when he observed a male standing in the driveway of a residence. The address was familiar to Deputy Norris from previous attempts to arrest Brian D. Bates. Information was confirmed on Bates, at which time Deputy Norris returned to 530 1/2 High St. However, the male was no longer in the driveway. Multiple attempts were made at the residence to get subjects to come to the door. No one inside responded, even though footsteps could be heard. Other deputies arrived at the residence and used a loudspeaker to direct Brian Bates to surrender on his warrants. Forced entry was made into the residence and Bates was found inside a bathroom. Deputies continued giving Bates verbal commands to lie on the floor but he began physically resisting deputies by pushing them away and shifting his weight to avoid apprehension. Bates was eventually taken into custody. He was taken to the Washington County Jail, where he was arrested on the outstanding felony warrant along with a charge of obstructing official business and resisting arrest. While being transported, Bates continued threatening the life of the deputy transporting him. Based on that information Brian Daniel Bates, 47, also was charged with menacing.

¯ Deputy Tucker, while patrolling southbound on I-77, observed a passenger car traveling at a high rate of speed in the oncoming lane. The speed was confirmed by radar at 97 mph in a posted 70 mph zone. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle, driven by Brytanee Ann Lantz. A citation was issued to Brytanee Lantz, 42 Deerfield Drive, Hurricane, W.Va., for speed.

¯ Deputy Harlow, along with the Beverly Police Department, responded to 226 Fourth St., Waterford Township, in an attempt to locate a subject on an outstanding warrant. Contact was made with subjects including Jerry Nicholson and Christopher Burton Carpenter. A syringe, tourniquet and plastic bags were located on Carpenter following a patdown search. A summons is being requested for Carpenter, 53, 208 Second St, Beverly, for possessing drug abuse instruments. Sgt. Parks noted that Nicholson was holding an object in his right hand and changed the object to his left hand. Nicholson was told to put the object on the hood of the vehicle. Closer inspection revealed the object to be a black sock with a bag containing a crystal- like substance, a bag with a white powdery substance and a glass smoking pipe. Nicholson stated that both substances were methamphetamine. The total weight was 10.13 grams. Jerry Lynn Nicholson, 55, 22579 Ohio 60, Beverly, was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Nicholson was taken to the Washington County Jail for processing.

¯ Deputy Harlow responded to Barlow Township in reference to property missing from a safe.

¯ While working the Washington County Jail, officers were advised that inmate Stephen Andrew Cole was brought to the jail on an active warrant from the Circuit Court of Ritchie County, W.Va. The warrant was a bond revocation. Cole was identified by his date of birth, Social Security number and physical descriptors, confirming he was the subject of the warrant. A charge of fugitive from justice was filed on Stephen Andrew Cole, 37, 2904 1/2 Washington Blvd., Belpre.

June 4

¯ Deputy Tucker placed Timothy Allen Thompson under arrest on an active warrant out of Wood County. The warrant was for failure to register as a sex offender, three counts. Based on Thompson’s name, Social Security number and date of birth it was confirmed he was the wanted subject. A charge of fugitive from justice was filed on Thompson, 39, 12720 Ohio 676, Waterford.

¯ Deputy Windland responded to Camelot Road, Lot 31, Dunham Township, for an Emergency Medical Squad requesting a deputy sheriff for assistance. The subject in question was punching a window and possibly engaging in a fight. Mareesa Richards advised Deputy Windland that she was frustrated because no one was coming to the door when she began knocking on the window hard enough to break it. The occupants of the residence informed Deputy Windland that Richards does not live at that residence but shows up as she pleases, causing issues. A summons is being requested for Mareesa Heaven Lyshae Richards, 20, listing her address as homeless, on a charge of criminal mischief.

¯ While patrolling the area of Maple Street and Franklin Street, Deputy Ullom observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at that intersection. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle driven by Aaron Sarver, who was found to have a suspended license. A citation was issued to Aaron J. Sarver, 290 Congress Road, Belpre, for driving under suspension.

June 5

¯ Deputy Schwendeman and Sgt. McConnell responded to the area of Dilly Street and Main Street in Aurelius Township. This was in reference to reports of a young child running around wearing only a diaper, with no parents in sight. The child was located at a residence on Main Street, where it was being cared for. The child was reported to have been running through the streets and residents were afraid for the safety of the child. The child’s mother was found to be Jessica Warner. Due to the length of time that had passed before the parents of the child were found, Children Services was notified and were responding to the scene. Jessica admitted the child took off several times the previous evening as well, stating she chased after the child each time, which neighbors confirmed. Jessica said the only reason she did not come looking for the child in this incident was due to being asleep. A summons is being requested for Jessica Lynn Warner, 35, 141 Dilly St., Macksburg, on a charge of endangering children.

¯ Deputy Peters was patrolling I-77 southbound in Washington County when a vehicle was observed making two traffic violations. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was found to be Anthony M. Clark. Clark was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and he said no. K9 Timmy was deployed and conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle. K9 Timmy did indicate on the front driver door, which led to a probable cause search. Deputy Peters located 11 grams of cocaine. Anthony Maurice Clark, 28, 1607 Claudia Ave., Akron, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs.

June 6

¯ Sgt. Stillson was on patrol near Arrowhead Road, Belpre, when he observed a vehicle operating above the posted 60 mph speed limit. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the driver, Meagan Elise Wood, 4841 Franklin Valley Road, Jackson, was issued a citation for speed, 75 mph in a 60 mph zone.

¯ A sentencing hearing was held at the Washington County Courthouse, 205 Putnam St., Marietta. After the hearing, subjects were standing outside the courthouse when Tucker L. Hurst came out of the courthouse and made comments to the victims and other subjects with the victims. Hurst made threats towards the individuals prior to law enforcement arriving. Deputies arrived and Hurst was taken into custody. Tucker Lee Hurst, 37, 305 Washington St., Marietta, was charged with two counts of retaliation. He was processed at the Washington County Jail.

¯ Deputy Eichhorn observed a vehicle operating with no real plate light while on patrol in Marietta Township. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was found to be Haylee Carter. A glass smoking pipe was observed sticking out of the front of Carter’s shirt. Carter was asked to step from the vehicle and a search was conducted, recovering the smoking device. A search of the vehicle was completed, locating a silver container with packages that contained a white crystalline substance, suspected to be methamphetamines. One package weighed 4.02 grams and the other weighed 0.94 grams. Haylee Marie Carter, 33, 113 Elm St., Beverly, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

June 7

¯ Sgt. Stillson was on patrol in Barlow Township when he observed a traffic violation. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was found to be Leslie Villers. A citation was issued to Villers, 113 Front St., Williamstown, for disobeying a traffic control device.

¯ Lt. Brown was patrolling the area of Ohio 550 near Virginia Street when he observed a vehicle operating with no license plate light. A traffic stop was conducted with Tiffany Burwell. Burwell produced an expired OH identification card and she was found to be under suspension in West Virginia. Burwell stated she was not legally supposed to be driving. A citation was issued to Burwell, 1468 Muskingum River Road, Marietta, on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. Burwell was advised of her court date and issued a verbal warning for the plate light violation.

¯ Lt. Brown, while on patrol on Ohio 60 in Muskingum Township, saw a gray Chevrolet sedan traveling southbound with no license plate light. Lt. Brown was behind the vehicle in the 45 mph zone, pacing the vehicle at 58 mph coming into the city limits of Marietta. A traffic stop was initiated. The vehicle continued to travel on Muskingum Drive with the right signal light activated, indicating the driver was pulling over. The driver continued onto Linwood Avenue and then turned left onto Pennsylvania Avenue. A red-colored item was thrown from the vehicle into a yard while the left turn onto Pennsylvania was being made. The driver then brought the vehicle to a stop and parked while still in the lane of travel. Contact was made with the driver, Harold Joy. Joy denied any speed violation when he was told why he was being stopped. Joy was asked about the item thrown from the vehicle, which he denied as well. The cigarette pack (red item) was located in the yard where it was seen being thrown from Joy’s vehicle. The pack contained a white crystal-like substance that appeared to be methamphetamine. Joy was advised of his rights and denied having any drugs on him or throwing any out of the vehicle. A check of the yard where the cigarette pack landed showed no other trash in the area. Harold Nelson Joy, 58, 165 Starlite Drive, Lot 30, Marietta, was placed under arrest and charged with tampering with evidence and possession of a controlled substance. The methamphetamine was later found to weigh .44 grams. Joy was taken to the Washington County Jail and given a verbal warning on the traffic violations.

¯ Sgt. Painter was patrolling the 15000 block of Ohio 7, Warren Township, when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle speed was confirmed at 77 mph in a 60 mph zone. The driver, Kelly A. Prim, 729 Fourth St., Marietta, was issued a citation for speed.

¯ Deputy Young completed a private property accident report for Warren Wilson, Scarsdale Boulevard., Powell, Ohio.

¯ Deputy Ullom began an investigation at the Dollar General in Little Hocking, where a subject had shoplifted two fans from the business.

¯ Lt. W Johnson observed a small motorized motorcycle with no visible registration riding in circles near the intersection of E. Eighth Street and Wayne Street in Pioneer Township. A traffic stop was initiated on the driver, Joey Dean Thomas. Thomas explained he did not have a license and he normally does not ride on the roadway and only operates his electric motorcycle mini-bike on the sidewalks or bike path around town. Thomas further stated he knew he should not be operating the vehicle on the roadway without a valid license. A citation for no operator’s license was issued to Thomas, 836 Pike St., Apt. 15, Marietta.

June 10

¯ Deputy Schwendeman met with an individual at the Reno Community Park on Sandhill Road, Marietta Township. The individual had been on the walking path and found jewelry (rings). The rings may not be valuable monetarily but could hold sentimental value for the owner. The owner can contact Deputy Schwendeman at 740-376-7070 ext 0.
