PARKERSBURG — Camp Creativity at the Parkersburg Art Center is now open for registration.
Each year, Camp Creativity selects a theme to guide projects and lessons. This summer’s theme, “Art Takes Flight,” provides inspiration for young artists to explore creative possibilities.
The program includes lessons on different artistic styles and techniques while introducing participants to both well-known and lesser-known artists. The curriculum changes each week, allowing campers to register for multiple sessions without repeating material. Registration is available on the Art Center website at www.parkersburgartcenter.org
Camp sessions are divided by age group. Mini Camp, for children ages 4-5, runs from June 9-13 and Aug. 4-8 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sessions for first through third graders are scheduled for June 16-20, June 23-27, and July 14-18 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Camps for fourth through sixth graders take place July 7-11 and July 28-Aug. 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Teen Clay Camp runs from June 30-July 3 from 1-4 p.m., while Teen Mixed Media is scheduled for July 21-25 from 1-4 p.m.
“In art, there is never just one answer. Possibilities are limitless. Camp Creativity opens your child up to this world of endless possibilities!” said Jessie Siefert, Managing Director of the PAC.
Siefert also notes “Many of our campers will attend two or, sometimes, three weeks of the sessions for their age group! It is wonderful to see them throughout the summer and returning year after year. Some of our teen volunteers this summer started out in the ArtStart Preschool program that is also housed here at the Art Center. They grow up with us and we love that!”
Camp Creativity maintains small class sizes to ensure individualized attention. The program hires experienced instructors, provides quality materials, and offers need-based scholarships to make participation accessible to a wide range of students.
The Art Center is a nonprofit, community arts organization where all are welcome. The public can visit the Center’s exhibits and gift shop throughout the year and art classes for all ages are posted on the website https://www.parkersburgartcenter.org/ as they are scheduled.
