Betty Lou Swaney, 93, of Reno, passed away at 10:38 pm, Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Elison Assisted Living.

She was born December 13, 1930, in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of Charles Whitlatch and Clara Rosalie McVey Whitlatch. Betty was a homemaker. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, artist and a good friend to anyone she ever met.

On August 1, 1951, she married Donald L. Swaney who preceded her in death on February 19, 2019. She is survived by her children: Donald (Ellen) Swaney, Charles Swaney, Michael (Cheryl) Swaney, Mark (Kerri) Swaney, 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, brother William Whitlatch, sister JoAnn Deems and niece Roberta Lee.

The family would like to thank the staff at Elison Assisted Living for the care they gave Betty.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory will be appreciated to the O’Neill Center, 333 Fourth Street, Marietta, OH 45750.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday (Dec. 18) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial following in East Lawn Memorial Park. Family will greet friends before the service from 9:00 until 11:00. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
